A Swedish-Austrian group of experts will discuss the sustainable use of snow and the digitization of ski resorts in Åre on 15 February. PRINOTH will be present with its visionary snow and slope management software SNOW HOW.
The Austrian Economic Chamber invites to the discussion about developments and chances of the winter industry on 15.2.2019. Prof. Per Holmlund from the Chair of Physical Geography at the University of Stockholm will open the round table under the title "Future of Snow - Sustainable use and digitization of ski resorts in Åre". His research area deals with changes in snow and ice conditions in the Scandinavian mountains and probability forecasts for future developments. Research results such as those of Prof. Holmlund suggest that snow can no longer be taken for granted. This of course has a big impact on the winter sports industry, which will be discussed in the event on February 15th.
PRINOTH SNOW HOW was developed to respond to these challenges and provide ski resorts with the right tools to deal with the increasingly scarce resource of snow. SNOW HOW is also installed on Skistar Åre's PRINOTH vehicles, which are used at the World Championships, and helps the piste workers to achieve the best possible piste conditions under the weather circumstances in Åre. SNOW HOW is the most precise measuring system of its kind in the world and is part of a research project at the University of Östersund together with Peak Innovation. Lars-Börje Eriksson from Peak Innovation will talk about the current trends in snow and snowmaking and how digital solutions can support "Mother Hulda" in her work.
In a subsequent discussion round, representatives of the Austrian winter industry will discuss the role of digitisation in the industry. PRINOTH Product Manager Andreas Muigg will provide insights into piste preparation under the aspect of future challenges and will explain, using the PRINOTH SNOW HOW, how future-oriented ski resorts can meet these challenges.
