Antholz is at the heart of the biathlon world

There has been feverish excitement in the world of winter sports over this great event for nearly a year, and now it is finally over: the biathlon world championships took place from 13th to 23rd February in Antholz, Italy.

Much was expected of the top biathlon destination and much was achieved: everyone from the entire Antholz Valley pitched in, so as to offer visitors from all over the world a unique sporting event. The Südtirol Arena – at a height of 1600m, the highest competition site in the IBU World Cup circuit – was extensively renewed in 2018 and made fit for the continual stream of fans who followed the great biathlon advertising signs along the Pusterer Landstraße leading to Antholz. Around 150,000 spectators were present! All hotels and overnight accommodations were fully booked, and an extra shuttle service brought the fans to the stadium, and an attractive fringe programme bridged the time between races with many varied events.

The PRINOTH vehicles, which provide the first-class cross-country skiing trails in Antholz every year, were particularly on display. Wrapped in the event’s design, they made their tracks over the stretches on which the best athletes in the world would compete.

“Whatever the snow conditions, the vehicles provide a flawless result every time, and the PRINOTH service is always prepared,” says Lorenz Leitgeb, President of the Biathlon Organisation Committee in Antholz.“In such a large project, we need a partner on whom we can rely one-hundred percent. And that is why PRINOTH was our first choice.”
